Machi (sometimes 麻吉) is a popular Taiwan|Taiwanese hip hop group. Their self-titled debut album was released March 14, 2003. Their second album, Oh! My was released August 15, 2003.
The group's name sounds like the Taiwanese (linguistics)|Taiwanese word Mo?-ch?, a glutinous rice dessert. It can mean "buddy" in colloquial talk among teenagers. It is also the name of a local baseball team.
Jeff of L.A. Boyz is the leading figure. Others members are Stephen Lin, Kenny Chou, Edward Huang. Like that earlier group, Machi sprinkles Taiwanese lyrics with bits of English.
